Tennis Cruises To 8-1 Win Over Molloy

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 2, 2008) – The C.W. Post tennis team defeated Molloy College, 8-1, to claim its first win of the season Thursday afternoon on the C.W. Post tennis courts.
 
With the win, the Pioneers improve to 1-3 overall and in the East Coast Conference. Meanwhile, Molloy falls to 1-8 overall and 0-6 in the ECC.
 
Freshman Aysylu Mardanova (Moscow, Russia) defeated freshman Alex Bonventre in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, and combined with senior Rosemary Marrugo (Freeport, N.Y.) to defeat Bonventre and freshman Angeline Asaro at No. 1 doubles.
 
Marrugo also recorded a personal victory when she defeated Asaro, 6-0, 6-1 in No. 2 singles.
 
Bianca Ferranteri recorded the third singles win for the Pioneers when she defeated sophomore Meghan McDevitt, 6-0, 6-0.
 
Senior Alexis Kramer (Dix Hills, N.Y.) won her second singles match of the season with a sweep against sophomore Shannon Skeggs, 6-1, 6-1. Kramer later teamed up with No. 5 singles winner Gena Bales (Syosset, N.Y.) to defeat Skeggs and sophomore Amanda Colquhoun in No. 3 doubles. 
 
C.W. Post will play its next at home against Queens College (N.Y.) at 3:30 p.m.
