Mardanova Named East Coast Conference Rookie Of The Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2008)- Freshman tennis standout #Aysylu Mardanova# (Moscow, Russia) was named East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon.Mardanova defeated Molloy freshman Alex Bonventre in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2. She then teamed up with C.W. Post senior Rosemary Marrugo (Freeport, N.Y.) to ensure the Pioneers an 8-1 win over the Lions.
Mardanova improved her singles record to 3-1 and her doubles record to 1-3.
The Pioneers are back in action again October 7 as the host ECC rival Queens College at 3 p.m.
