Offense Powers Football Past Lock Haven, 30-28

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Nov. 8, 2008) – C.W. Post held off a late push from Lock Haven University to defeat the Bald Eagles, 30-28, in Saturday afternoon football at Hubert Jack Stadium.
The teams met for the first time in program history and closed out their respective 2008 season as C.W. Post finished 3-8 overall and Lock Haven 0-11.
Senior quarterback
Nick Georgetti (Holbrook, N.Y.) threw for 329 passing yards, falling just one yard short of his career-high set earlier this season against Millersville. Georgetti completed two TD passes to junior wide receiver
Chris Harris (Islip, N.Y.) in the game and rushed in a 15-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to help the Pioneers stay ahead. Georgetti finishes his career at C.W. Post with 5,681 passing yards, finishing third all-time among Pioneer quarterbacks.
Harris scored the first touchdown of the game in the first quarter when he reeled in a 67-yard pass from Georgetti at 11:09. His second TD reception came in the third quarter on a 40-yard attempt from Georgetti with 1:46 remaining. Harris totaled 119 receiving yards on four catches, marking a season-high for the Pioneers.
On defense, senior defensive back
Kurt Ellis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and junior linebacker
Tayrance Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each made 11 tackles.
Lock Haven, who had been trailing 24-15 at the start of the fourth quarter, made the game closer when sophomore running back Ibrahim Smith rushed in from the Pioneers' 7-yard line at 13:20.
C.W. Post countered when Georgetti sprinted 15-yards into the end zone to give the Pioneers a more comfortable 30-22 lead.
The Bald Eagles caught a break when senior wide receiver
Dennis Vanella's (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) eight-yard catch was force fumbled by LHU's Shane Barie and recovered by Ryan Faddish at the C.W. Post 2-yard line. Lock Haven made good on the opportunity as senior quarterback Jason Eby rushed in on the next play for the TD with 7:56. The Bald Eagles' conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Lock Haven again threatened later in the quarter with the ball on the LHU 28 with under five minutes remaining after the Pioneers lost possession on downs. Eby completed a 32-yard pass to junior wide receiver Micah Coleman followed by a series of short passes as Lock Haven marched down to the CWP 28. The Pioneer defense was able to stop the offense and take over on downs from its own 28 with 2:47 remaining.
C.W. Post was able to move the ball downfield to the LHU 47 before Georgetti took a knee to end the game.
Junior running back
Anthoney Adamic (Selden, N.Y.) led the Pioneers in rushing with 106 yards on 23 carries. Senior
Andrew Kroell (Baldwin, N.Y.) kicked his 30th successful field goal – a 29-yard attempt - in the third quarter.
Eby completed 14 of 20 pass attempts for 181 yards. Smith led the Bald Eagles in rushing with 94 net yards on 27 carries.
On defense for Lock Haven, senior Shawn Crebs made 11 tackles (7s, 4a) along with a five-yard sack, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
