No. 16 Swimming Takes Fourth At Metro Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 24, 2008) – The C.W. Post swimming team received 747.45 points and placed fourth overall at the Metropolitan Collegiate Championships.  Overall, the Pioneers received seven NCAA-qualifying times at the meet.
 
The College of New Jersey was the overall winner with 954 points followed by Southern Connecticut State University with 904.  A total of 17 schools competed at the three-day meet.
 
Sophomore Jennifer Esposito (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) received an “A” qualifying time in the 500 free when she finished with a final time of five minutes, 04.98 seconds, which broke the Metro meet record set in 2005.
 
The Pioneers received another “A” standard qualifying time and first place finish, this time in the 200 medley relay when junior Mariel Andersson (Brastad, Sweden), junior Katie Kelly (Sayville, N.Y.), senior Ivana Klaric (Split, Croatia) and sophomore Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) edged out NJIT at 1:47.54. 
 
Andersson followed up with her individual A-qualifier in the 200 backstroke (2:04.00).
Kelly received two “B” cuts in the 100 breast (1:06.84) and 200 breast (2:23.17).  Klaric also qualified with a B-standard in the 100 fly (58.45). 
 
Andersson, along with Roman-Green took first in the 200 free relay with a B-qualifying time of 1:37.31.
 
C.W. Post gears up to compete at the ECAC Championships at the University of Pittsburg, beginning Feb. 28.
