The Pioneers are ranked 10th in the nation. Softball Ranked Tenth In the Nation 5/1/2008 1:42:44 PM NFCA National Poll STARKVILLE, Miss. (May 1, 2008) – The NFCA Division II poll was released for the week of May 1, and the softball team is currently ranked 10th in the nation, improving one spot from last week. The Pioneers have won five in a row and seventeen of their last twenty games, and are currently ranked first in the Northeast Region. In addition, they have been selected as the host institution for the 2008 NCAA Division II Sofball Championships Northeast Regional. With an 18-2 conference record, the Pioneers won the East Coast Conference regular season title, and most recently defeated Bridgeport, 4-3, in the second round of ECC Tournament play on Thursday morning. Currently 42-14 overall, the Pioneers will face the University of New Haven on Friday in the winner's bracket game of the ECC Tournament at 11 a.m. at Dowling College's Brookhaven Campus.
