 - Behind a strong pitching performance from Samantha Yodowitz (Suffern, N.Y.), No. 11 C.W. Post defeated the UniversIty of Bridgeport, 4-3, in the second round of the ECC Tournament.

The win improves the Pioneers record to 42-14, 1-0 in the tournament while the Purple Knights fall to 23-23, 1-1 in tournament play.

The Pioneers got on the board first on an RBI single by Melissa Hippo (Granite Bay, Calif.) in the bottom half of the first inning. They pushed their lead to 3-0 in the fourth, as the Pioneers scored two runs off two Purple Knight errors, the last coming on an infield grounder off the bat of Hippo.

Bridgeport was able to tie the game in the top of the sixth, as the Purple Knights got to Yodowitz for six hits and three runs. J.J. Edwards and Rosemary Landano hit back-to-back RBI singles and a double to left field by Danielle Larson tied the game at 3-all.

However, Yodowitz led off the bottom of the sixth with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Katie Younes (Amesbury, Mass.), and scored on a line drive to center field by Megan Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) that a diving Larson could not hold onto, scoring Yodowitz as the eventual winning run.
