No. 9 Softball Boasts Four On Daktronics All-Region Teams

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 7, 2008)
– The 2008 Daktronics Softball Northeast All-Region teams were released and sophomore shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) as named to the First Team, as voted on by the region's Sports Information Directors.

Seniors Samantha Yodowitz (Suffern, N.Y.) and Holly Eringis (Tewksbury, Mass.) and sophomore outfielder Melissa Medina (Levittown, N.Y.) were named to the Second Team.

Softy has started in all 59 games this season and is batting .323 (63-195) at the plate and leads the Pioneers with 45 runs batted in and 13 doubles. 

Yodowitz was named the ECC Player of the Year and currently has a 27-6 record in the pitching circle. At the plate, she is batting .347 and leads the team with eight home runs and 39 RBI in 59 games played.

Eringis is batting .359 (46-128) with 46 hits for 23 RBI. Eringis launched a two-run home run in the first inning against New Haven in the NCAA Northeast Regional on Wednesday.

Medina leads the ECC in hits (81) and stolen bases (34) this season as the leadoff hitter. 

The Pioneers (45-14) captured their first East Coast Conference championship since 2006 and are in the midst of hosting the NCAA Northeast Championship Regional.
