Football's Omar King Invited to NCAA Coaches Academy
The NCAA today announced its list of 26 invitees to its annual Football Coaches Academy. Among the selected candidates from schools across the country was C.W. Post's Omar King, a second-year assistant under head coach
Bryan Collins.
The Academy, in its fifth year of existence, prides itself on developing the knowledge base and skill set of assistant coaches from Division I, II, and III programs who aspire to be head coaching candidates in the future.
Selection to the Academy is aimed at coaches with less than eight years of experience. Invitees attend various sessions throughout the program's length which focus on a range of topics including professional conduct skills and training, NCAA compliance, finance and budget development, media training and networking.
Other sessions are geared towards development for coaches that aspire to become offensive or defensive coordinators as well.
The 26 coaches will gather in Indianapolis starting June 29 through July 1.
