Football Falls To American International, 45-19, In Season Opener

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Aug. 30, 2008) – Sophomore quarterback Rob Parent connected on six touchdown passes to lift American International College past C.W. Post, 45-19, in the season opener for both teams Saturday afternoon on Hickox Field.
Parent completed 18 of 30 pass attempts for 344 yards - three to wide receiver Travis Poole, who registered 253 reception yards in the game.
The Pioneers scored the first TD of the game when senior quarterback
Nick Georgetti (Holbrook, N.Y.) completed a pass to junior wide receiver
Ryan Pettys (Long Beach, Calif.) with 5:36 remaining in the first quarter.
The Yellow Jackets evened up the score in the next drive when Parent threw a 24-yard pass to junior wide receiver Kertis Hussey at 4:24. AIC scored once more in the quarter when Parent connected to Poole for 73 yards at the 16-second mark.
C.W. Post cut the lead to 14-10 in the second quarter when senior kicker
Andrew Kroell (Baldwin, N.Y.) kicked a 36-yard field goal.
The Yellow Jackets scored two more touchdowns and added a field goal in the quarter to take a 31-10 lead going into the half.
In the third quarter, Parent completed a 24-yard pass to Poole followed by a 27-yard touchdown completion to Hussey to lead 45-10.
The Pioneers scored their second touchdown of the game to open the fourth quarter when redshirt freshman #R.J. Kuhn# (Sayville, N.Y.) forced his way into the endzone from AIC's 2-yard line. C.W. Post also added a team safety at the four-minute mark.
Georgetti connected on 17 of 36 pass attempts 169 yards while senior wide receiver
Chris Harris (Islip, N.Y.) made five catches for 102 receiving yards.
C.W. Post will play its first conference game as a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference when it hosts Indiana (Pa.) on Sept. 6 at 12 p.m.
