Football Drops PSAC Opener To No. 16 IUP, 41-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.
(Sep. 6, 2008) – Junior quarterback Andrew Krewatch threw for 241 yards and two touchdown passes as No. 16 Indiana University of Pennsylvania won its season opener by a 41-0 score over C.W. Post in Saturday afternoon football action on Hickox Field.
 
C.W. Post drops to 0-2 on the season and will host Edinboro University on Sept. 13. Indiana will play next week at Millersville.    
 
The teams met for the first time since 1981 when the Crimson Hawks defeated the Pioneers, 42-35. The previous year saw the Pioneers claim a 17-7 win at home on Hickox Field.
 
IUP totaled 459 offensive yards on 56 plays while the Pioneers registered 331 yards on 89 plays. The Pioneers held a 23-15 advantage in first downs. 
 
Krewatch completed 13 of 25 pass attempts for 241 yards - his longest an 85-yard TD pass to senior wide receiver Ken Witter in the second quarter. Witter registered 142 receiving yards with two touchdown receptions. 
 
The Crimson Hawks scored in the first drive of the game when sophomore kicker Craig Burgess made good on a 26-yard field goal attempt to put the Crimson Hawks up, 3-0. 
 
IUP added three touchdowns in the second quarter that included a 74-yard interception return from junior defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah with 13:09 on the clock. Krewatch found Witter twice in the endzone for 85 and 27-yard touchdown completions.
 
The visiting team added its fourth touchdown of the game in the third quarter when sophomore running back Tobias Robinson broke through for an 85-yard TD run.
 
Sophomore full back Jason Gwaltney (North Babylon, N.Y.) carried the ball 19 times for 83 yards while junior fullback Anthoney Adamic (Selden, N.Y.) registered 33 yards on 12 carries for the Pioneers.
 
Senior quarterback #Nick Georgetti# (Holbrook, N.Y.) completed 14 of 29 pass attempts for 179 yards. Senior wide receiver Chris Harris (Islip, N.Y.) caught five passes for 77 yards for the Pioneers.
