Ellis, Smith Named ECAC Football All-Stars

CAPE COD, Mass. (Jan. 5, 2009) – The ECAC announced Monday afternoon that senior defensive back Kurt Ellis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and junior outside linebacker Tayrance Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were named to the 2008 Football All-Star Team.
Ellis was second overall in the PSAC with 102 tackles (58s, 44a). He broke up three passes and intercepted two for 15 yards.
Smith was second on the team in tackles with 87 that included eight for loss with two sacks totaling 14 yards.
American International senior wide receiver Travis Poole was named Player of the Year while Saint Anselm freshman quarterback Marc Wilson received Rookie of the Year honors.
The ECAC will honor the players in each division and region on Feb. 24, 2009 at the annual Eastern College Football Awards Banquet presented by FieldTurf Tarkett at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, N.J.
C.W. Post completed its first season the PSAC with a 3-8 overall record and 2-5 mark in conference play.
