Newsday: Beverly showing smart moves at C.W. Post
Thomas Beverly was a child, playing in a youth football league, when he first encountered Ian Smart playing for C.W. Post. Smart was in the process of becoming Post's most heralded football player.
"It looked like an NFL game," Beverly remembered. The youngster became enamored with Smart and watched his career blossom at Post. "I always liked carrying the ball," said Beverly, who would eventually become a high school star at St. John the Baptist.
