Bridgeport Turns Aside Volleyball, 3-0

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Oct. 13, 2009)
– The University of Bridgeport won its fourteenth straight match with a 3-0 victory over C.W. Post in East Coast Conference volleyball action Tuesday evening at Hubbell Gym. The match scores were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-20.
 
Bridgeport, who has not lost a match since Sept. 18, improves to 23-3 overall and 6-0 in the conference. The loss snaps a four-game win streak for the Pioneers as they drop to 11-9 overall and 5-2 in ECC action.
 
Senior outside hitter Agatha Baliddawa (JInja, Uganda) led the Purple Knights with 10 kills while teammate Milica Micovic (Belgrade, Serbia) added 31 assists and eight digs. 
 
For the Pioneers, freshman outside hitter Kirsten Taylor (South Pasadena, Calif.) led the squad in attacking with eight kills, five digs and one block solo. Junior setter Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.), who received the night's Fighting Spirit award, was a stalwart for the visitors with 24 assists and 10 defensive digs.
 
C.W. Post returns to action Oct. 15 to host conference opponent Queens College at the Pratt Recreation Center. The first serve is set for 7 p.m.
