Football Wins On The Road At Rain-Soaked Millersville, 35-3

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 17, 2009)
–C.W. Post compiled over 400 offensive yards to capture its first road win of the season at Millersville University, 35-3, in Pennsylvania State Conference football action Saturday afternoon at Biemesderfer Stadium.  The win was head coach Bryan Collins' 90th career win at C.W. Post.
 
C.W. Post is now 3-5 overall and 3-2 in PSAC East action while Millersville falls to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in division play.
 
There was a lot of rushing on the slick turf as rain continued throughout the game. Junior quarterback Eric Anderwkavich (Queens, N.Y.) led the way for C.W. Post with 135 yards and one touchdown and completed a 16-yard pass to senior wide receiver Chris Harris (Islip, N.Y.) with 1:24 left to play in the first quarter.
 
The Pioneers spotted themselves a 21-0 lead in the first quarter as freshman running back Thomas Beverly (Wyandanch, N.Y.) scored two of his three touchdowns of the game at 10:32 and 6:10, respectively. 
 
The Pioneer offense continued into the second quarter as the visitors put up two more touchdowns, beginning with a two-yard charge into the endzone from Beverly at 13:06 followed by a two-yard run from Anderwkavich at 6:54.
 
Millersville got on the board in the closing minutes of the first half when senior kicker John Banzhof (Lancaster, Pa.) kicked a 38-yarder through the uprights with 1:13 remaining in the clock.
 
Anderwkavich led the Pioneers in rushing with 135 net yards on 12 carries. Beverly filled the statsheet with 111 yards on 17 carries in three TDs in the game.
 
Seniors Peter Manns (Dorchester, Mass.) and Tayrance Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the defensive unit with 12 tackles each. Both Manns and sophomore inside linebacker Lou Scala (Coram, N.Y.) registered sacks in the game. Junior defensive lineman Michael Gisonda (Searingtown, N.Y.) also recorded a sack for loss of 10 yards in the fourth quarter.
 
Senior running back Brad Lantz (Towanda, Pa.) led the Marauders offensively with 47 rushing yards on 14 carries.
 
C.W. Post returns to action when it meets East Stroudsburg University on the road on Oct 24 at 1p.m.
