Tennis Edged By St. Thomas Aquinas, 5-4
SPARKHILL, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2009) – The St. Thomas Aquinas women's tennis team defeated C.W. Post, 5-4, Thursday afternoon.
St. Thomas Aquinas improves to 7-4 overall while C.W. Post closes out its season with a 3-7 overall record.
Junior Morgan Milleisen (Bayport, N.Y.) defeated STAC's Allison Reeg (Stony Point, N.Y.) in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Katie Avelar (Woodbury, N.Y.) defeated Kristen Schimpf (Washington Township, N.J.) in No. 2 singles, 0-6, 6-4, 6-0 while sophomore Aysylu Mardanova (Moscow, Russia) got a win in No. 3 singles against STAC's Danielle Bicknell (Nanuet, N.Y.), 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, Milleisen and Avelar teamed up to defeat Reeg and Schimpf in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
