Anderwkavich, Beverly Receive Top ECAC Honors; Five Pioneers Named All-Stars
CAPE COD, Mass. (Dec. 17, 2009) – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference released its 2009 Division II Football All-Star Team and five Pioneers earned selections. Junior quarterback Erik Anderwkavich (Queens, N.Y.) was chosen as Player of the Year and freshman running back Thomas Beverly (Wyandanch, N.Y.) was selected as Rookie of the Year.
Sophomore offensive lineman Kevin Martin (Patchogue, N.Y.) , junior defensive lineman Xavier Brown (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and graduate linebacker Peter Manns (Dorchester, Mass.) also were named to the squad.
Anderwkavich was the top rushing quarterback in the PSAC East division with 715 yards and six touchdowns. He completed 152 of 261 pass attempts with five interceptions for 1854 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Beverly, who was also a PSAC First Team selection, led the PSAC in overall rushing yards with 1,094 and finished second in rushing yards per game with 99.5. His impressive 5.2 average per carry was tied for second-best in the league and his 11 rushing touchdown is also fourth best. His efforts helped contribute to C.W. Post's PSAC-leading 214.5 rushing yards per game, the best in the league by over 35 yards per game. As a team, the Pioneers averaged 5.0 yards per carry, also the best in the PSAC.
