Former Softball Standout Samantha Yodowitz Signs Professional Contract With Philadelphia Force
ALLENTOWN, PA. (Feb. 23, 2009) – Former C.W. Post softball standout pitcher
Samantha Yodowitz has signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Force, the team announced Monday.
Yodowitz, who will also serve as assistant coach under C.W. Post head coach
Jamie Apicella this season, is one of four Division II players currently signed to play in the league that is made up of mostly high-level Division I players.
A member of the six-team National Pro Fastpitch league is considered the highest-level in professional softball and is affiliated with Major League Baseball. The Force play their home games at ECTB Stadium at Bicentennial Park in Allentown, Pa. Last season, the Force compiled a 31-17 record and finished second in the standings behind the Chicago Bandits.
A two-time NFCA All-American during her four years at C.W. Post, Yodowitz posted a 90-27 record with a 1.68 ERA, striking out 586 batters in 792 innings. She was equally impressive at the plate, batting .329 with 95 RBI, connected for 20 home runs and 58 extra-base hits. In 2008, the lefty started every game in the Pioneers' post-season, posting a 3-0 record in the East Coast Conference Championship, and a 4-0 record in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.
Yodowitz was named the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) Rookie of the Year in 2005 and in 2008 was named Player of the Year. She completed her four-year career holding the records for innings pitched in a single season (265.1, 2007), complete games (36, 2007) and wins (31, 2007).
