The softball team, ranked 21st in the most recent NFCA poll, won it's first game of the day, defeating Minnesota State-Mankato, 4-3, before dropping a 1-0 contest to Saginaw Valley State, in Thursday's softball action at the Rebel Games.

In the opener, MSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead before C.W. Post answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at two on Ashley Marchese's (Hauppauge, N.Y.) single to left.

The Mavericks answered with a run in the top of the fourth on an RBI double off the bat of Abby Morris.

Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) roped a two-out, two-RBI double in the fifth to put the Pioneers on top for good, 4-3, and Christina Berardi (Raynham, Mass.) held MSU scoreless the rest of the way, scattering six hits in six innings and striking out four in earning the win.

Brooke McKelvogue took the loss for MSU, going six innings allowing six hits and four runs.

The Pioneers were unable to capitalize on the momentum from the win as they dropped a tough 1-0 contest to Saginaw Valley State in the nightcap.

The Cardinals got on the board first after Marsha Beaubein scored on Jessica Anhel's infield single,

The lone run run would be all that Jade Fulton struck out nine Pioneers in the shutout.  Hayley Choquette-Bettles (Surrey, British Columbia) took the loss despite giving up only one run.

C.W. Post will play their final doubleheader in Florida on Saturday aftenoon, taking on Caldwell College and Wayne State.
