BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 28, 2009) – Senior attacker Greg Cerar (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) registered nine points to lead third-ranked C.W. Post past Southern New Hampshire, 19-5, in a non-conference men's lacrosse clash Saturday afternoon on Hickox Field.
 
The win improves C.W. Post to 8-1 overall while Southern New Hampshire slips to 0-4. 
 
Cerar led the game in all offensive categories with five goals and four assists.
 
The Pioneers outshot the Penmen by a 49-25 count and held a 39-23 advantage in ground balls.
 
C.W. Post took a 4-0 lead through the first quarter after Cerar led off the game with a goal at 11:53 on a feed from redshirt freshman Wade Ungar (Middle Island, N.Y.).
 
SNHU scored its first goal at the top of the second quarter when senior attacker Mike Ball fired a shot into the back of the net at 13:08.
 
That was all the Penmen would do offensively for the remainder of the quarter as the Pioneers added six unanswered goals, including three from Cerar, to give themselves a 10-1 lead at the break. 
 
SNHU scored its second goal of the game at the start of the third quarter when senior midfielder Sean Ball scored at 10:07.
 
The Pioneers added in five more goals in the third, including back-to-back scores from senior attacker Dave Loftus (Merrick, N.Y.). 
 
The Penmen scored three additional goals in the fourth quarter, including junior attacker Matt Sowles' first collegiate goal with 10:23 remaining.
 
Loftus completed the game with four goals and two assists. Junior midfielder Mike Cama (Levittown, N.Y.) won 13 of his 18 face-offs and led the game with 11 ground balls. 
 
Senior goalkeeper Daniel Sciulla (Merrick, N.Y.) made 12 stops in goal to preserve the win.
 
Mike Ball led the Penmen with two goals and added an assist while sophomore goalkeeper Eric Gunst made 15 saves in goal.
 
C.W. Post returns to action April 4 for a showdown against top-ranked New York Institute of Technology at 12 p.m.
