ECC Tabs Bettles as Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (March 9, 2009) – Following a week where she earned her first collegiate victory, freshman pitcher Hayley Choquette-Bettles (Surrey, British Columbia) was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.

Choquette-Bettles won her first collegiate start as she pitched the Pioneers to a 3-2 win over Northwood University in their season opener...the freshman gave up only six hits and one earned run in the victory, striking out two for the 10th-ranked Pioneers.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday as they take on LeMoyne College at 3 p.m. followed by Ashland at 5 p.m.
