BALTIMORE (May 29, 2009) – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced this year's Scholar All-Americans at its annual reception in Boston. Seniors Greg Cerar (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Dave Loftus (Merrick, N.Y.) and Daniel Sciulla (Merrick, N.Y.) were all honored for their academic achievement.
A Scholar All-American is a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He must also be an All-American or a member of the North/South team. He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field.

Cerar, who was named an East Coast All-Conference selection for the fourth consecutive year, led the Pioneers with 48 goals this year. He tallied four goals in the championship game against LeMoyne. He has earned seven man-up tallies and dished out 34 assists. Cerar led the ECC with three man-down goals this season to help his team to a 15-1 record.
Loftus ranked second on the team in scoring with 45 goals and 13 assists. Earlier this season, Loftus registered a hat trick in a 16-12 win against previously undefeated New York Institute of Technology.
Sciulla is ranked second in the nation in goals against average (6.10) and saves percentage (.639) this season. He has proved clutch in the cage and made 13 saves against LeMoyne, including seven in the fourth quarter, to preserve the championship win. Against NYIT, he made a season-high 18 saves and has twice registered 16 saves in a game this season.
