No. 2 Men's Lacrosse Locks Up NCAA Berth; Pioneers Will Host Limestone In Semifinals
INDIANAPOLIS (May 3, 2009) – The NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Committee has chosen the teams that will compete in the upcoming NCAA Championships and C.W. Post has been selected to represent the Central Region, it was announced Sunday evening.
The Pioneers (13-1, 4-0 ECC), who defeated Dowling College, 15-8, Saturday afternoon to clinch the East Coast Conference title, will host Limestone College (10-3, Carolina Conference) in the semifinal round.
LeMoyne College, ranked first in the latest USILA poll, was the top team in the North region and will host Merrimack College, who won an at large bid in the tournament.
The winners of the semifinal will advance to play in the championship final at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on May 24.
C.W. Post last participated in the tournament in 2005 against New York Institute of Technology. The Bears defeated the Pioneers, 21-9, and went on the win the national championship.
