Edinboro Rebounds To Defeat Football, 31-23

EDINBORO, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2009) – C.W. Post claimed an early lead in the first half but could not hold against Edinboro as the Fighting Scots charged to a 31-23 win in non-conference football action Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
Edinboro improves to 2-1 overall and will host Slippery Rock on Sept. 19. The Pioneers drop to 0-3 and will host Cheyney University on Sept. 19.
Trailing 17-10, the Fighting Scots tied the game with 20 seconds remaining in the first half when senior wide receiver Ilio DiPaolo (Tarentum, Pa.) completed an 18-yard pass to redshirt freshman tight end Shawn Walker (McKean, Pa.) to tie the game up at the half.
The Pioneers regained the lead with 9:33 remaining in the third quarter when redshirt sophomore #R.J. Kuhn# (Sayville, N.Y.) found junior wide receiver Andrew Kell (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) for a 19-yard touchdown reception to put the visitors ahead, 23-17.
Edinboro answered with 3:41 left to play in the quarter on account of a 42-yard completed pass from senior quarterback Trevor Harris (Waldo, Ohio) to junior wide receiver Josh Brown (Sheperdstown, W.Va.) to put the Fighting Scots ahead, 24-23.
Edinboro cushioned its lead with 4:35 remaining in the fourth when Harris held on for a 24-yard dash into the endzone.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and put its first score on the board when redshirt freshman Jon Korn (Shirley, N.Y.) kicked a 39-yard attempt through the uprights with 11:44 to play. C.W. Post scored with 57 seconds remaining in the quarter when junior quarterback Eric Anderwkavich (Queens, N.Y.) found senior wide receiver Chris Harris (Islip, N.Y.) for a 22-yard touchdown pass.
Harris completed 12 of 18 passes for 198 yards with one touchdown completion for the Fighting Scots. Senior tailback Junior Jabbie (Parlin, N.J.) led the Fighting Scots in rushing with 139 yards on 30 attempts.
Anderkavich completed 12 of 19 pass attempts for 159 yards and led the grounds crew with 108 net rushing yards on 19 carries. Freshman running back Thomas Beverly (Wyandanch, N.Y.) gained 73 rushing yards on 23 carries.
Edinboro held a 93-76 advantage in defensive tackles as sophomore outside linebacker Ryan Skelton (Edinboro, Pa.) made 12 tackles.
For C.W. Post, senior linebacker Peter Manns (Dorchester, Mass.) made 11 tackles. Senior outside linebacker Tayrance Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a 12-yard sack.
