Cerar, Sciulla Nominated For Inside Lacrosse Player of The Year

BALTIMORE (Sept. 14, 2009) – Inside Lacrosse Magazine is sponsoring its annual Laxie Awards and Greg Cerar (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Dan Sciulla (Merrick, N.Y.) are nominated for Division II Player of the Year. 
 
Cerar and Sciulla helped the Pioneers capture their second championship title with an 8-7 win over LeMoyne College to finish the season at 15-1.
 
Cerar led the Pioneers with 48 goals and was second in the nation in points per game (5.48). He received the Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award as the top player in NCAA Division II.  He was also voted the East Coast Conference Player of the Year by the league's head coaches.  Following the Pioneers' championship win over LeMoyne, Cerar was named the game's most outstanding player. 
 
Sciulla was ranked second in the nation in goals against average (6.10) and saves percentage (.639) last season.  He proved clutch in the cage and made 13 saves against LeMoyne, including seven in the fourth quarter, to preserve the championship win.  Against NYIT, he made a season-high 18 saves and twice registered 16 saves in a game last season.
