Tennis Cruises To 9-0 Victory Over UDC

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2009) – C.W. Post swept past the University of the District of Columbia, 9-0, Monday afternoon in East Coast Conference women's tennis action.
C.W. Post improves to 2-1 overall while UCD loses its season opener and slips to 0-1.
Freshman Katie Avelar (Woodbury, N.Y.) and graduate student Rosemary Marrugo (Freeport, N.Y.) teamed up to defeat UDC's Lisa Foster and Andea Thomas in No. 1 doubles, 8-0.
In No. 2 doubles, junior Kristin Hetiler (East Rockaway, N.Y.) and freshman Erin Lawney (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) cruised to an 8-2 victory over Danielle Smith and Shakira Watford. Hetiler bolstered her singles record to 2-0 with a win over Water in the fourth singles pairing. Lawney also improved to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Chantel Henry.
Junior Morgan Milleisen (Bayport, N.Y.) led off for the Pioneers with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Foster in No. 1 singles. Junior Chloe Przonek (Old Brookville, N.Y.) followed up with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Thomas in No. 2 singles. Sophomore Aysylu Mardanova (Brookville, N.Y.) improved to 2-1 when she eased past Smith, 6-0, 6-0.
C.W. Post returns to the court Sept. 22 when it faces off in a rematch against Queens College. The Knights defeated the Pioneers, 8-1, in a non-conference match on Sept. 16.
