BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2010) –
Sophomore #Betim Bajrami# (Helsingborg, Sweden) netted two goals as the C.W. Post men's soccer team grabbed a 2-0 win over Caldwell College on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

C.W. Post improves to 5-5-1 overall while Caldwell slides to 5-8.

The Pioneers tried to strike early as they had a shot on goal just 19 seconds into play. At two minutes in, CWP had a prime scoring chance as forward Rumen Kerekov (Sofia, Bulgaria) sent a cross into the box, finding a wide open Betim Bajrami (Helsingborg, Sweden) who got off a header that sailed just high.

Another header shot in the 17th minute by freshman Joakim Ohlson (Lund, Sweden) hit the crossbar, but the rebound went right to Bajrami, who sent a shot from the right side into the back left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The hosts continued to pepper the Caldwell goal with shots, hitting the crossbar yet again on another Kerekov shot in the 29th minute.

Bajrami struck again in the 34th minute for a Pioneer insurance goal, as he beat a defender down the left side of the field and shot into the lower right corner for his second goal of the game and fourth of the season.

The Pioneers kept up the offensive pressure, hitting the post on a shot by junior David Carlsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) in the 41st minute.

The second half saw the Pioneers continue outshoot the Cougars by a wide margin, hitting the crossbar for the third time in the game on another Kerekov shot.

The defense locked down in the second stanza holding the Cougars to just three shots, and freshman Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) needed to make three saves in the game to record the clean slate.

Up next for the Pioneers is St. Thomas Aquinas, on the road in Sparkill, N.Y. on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2:30 p.m.
