No single Pioneer player reached double-digits in kills, however the 40 kills that the team did achieve were spread out by the 29 assists that senior Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) put together on the night. The senior setter was also part of the Pioneer attack on the opposite end, as she put six kills down against the Lions. Ostapow hit a team-high .545 (6-0-11) on the night as she helped lead the Pioneers.

The first set would go back and forth, until the final few points were decided by Pioneers kills, as well attacking errors on the part of the Lions. Sophomore Geony Fisher (Goodyear, Ariz.) would be the catalyst behind the first game victory, as she led the Pioneers with her four kills and six digs.

The second set would see a more convincing win for C.W. Post, as the team would put together a 13-5 run to end the set. The attack would be balanced out among Pioneer players with four different girls having two kills. Freshman libero Stephanie Coufal (Littleton, Colo.) would control the defensive side, as she had 11 digs in the second game.

Freshman Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) would use four kills and a .429 hitting percentage to help give the Pioneers the 3-0 match victory. C.W. Post would put the game away with a 5-2 run to complete the third game victory.

Fisher would end up with nine kills on the match, while Namahoe finished third on the team with seven. Freshman Shayla Hixson (Honolulu, Hawaii) put together a solid three games, as she was second on the team with eight kills. Coufal would end the game with 18 digs, leading the back defense of the Pioneers.

For the Lions, junior outside hitter Angelica Nicalek would be the only participant to reach double-digit kills, as she put up ten on 39 attempts.

The Pioneers will now focus on a tri-match on Saturday Oct. 23 that includes a big match with conference power Dowling. The game against Dowling will take place at 11 a.m. in the Pratt Center. Dowling will then take on American International at approximately 1 p.m., with the final match of C.W.
