BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 5 2010) – Volleyball dropped a four game match, 1-3, to the NYIT Bears on Tuesday. The loss drops C.W. Post to 1-2 in conference, 13-6 overall, and to fourth place in the conference. NYIT surpasses the Pioneers in the standings, moving into third place with a 2-1 ECC record, 9-7 overall.

All four sets were tightly competitive, as C.W. Post would take the first set and then drop the next three games (25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 22-25). The Pioneers had three players with double digit kills. Freshman Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) led all game participants with 16 kills, while she also added 10 digs to help notch her fifth double-double on the year. Senior Marilena Guadagnini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) also added a double-double statistical effort to the night with 10 kills and a team leading 19 digs. This was Guadagnini's season leading eighth double-double. Freshman Shayla Hixson (Honolulu, Hawaii) was the other Pioneer to reach double digit kills numbers, as she tallied 12 on the evening.

For the Bears, they were led behind two double-double efforts by freshman Shelby Cable (DeSoto, Mo.) and junior Tugce Sirdas (Istanbul, Turkey). Cable and Sirdas each notched 13 kills to share the team lead, while Sirdas added 17 digs to Cable's 12 digs. The Bears were led in the dig category by junior libero Lisa Peacock (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).

C.W. Post was once again led by the setting abilities of senior Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) as she reached the 40 assist mark for the sixth time this season. The team as a whole was also able to generate six service aces, as well as six total team blocks. 

Up next for the Pioneers will be a road conference match against Mercy on Thursday Oct. 7. The team will then return home for a non-conference match against Adelphi on Friday Oct. 8. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start inside the Pratt Recreation Center.
