OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Nov. 12, 2010) – C.W. Post was knocked out of the ECC 2010 Volleyball Championships with a semifinal loss to the number one seed #23 Dowling. Dowling used a strong attack against the Pioneers with a 3-0 sweep (11-25, 15-25, 15-25).

The Golden Lions of Dowling shut down the Pioneer attack during the first set, as C.W. Post hitting a negative .050. On the other side, Dowling had four players accumulate three kills each to balance out its own attack to keep C.W. Post on its toes. Dowling ended its set hitting an impressive .314.

C.W. Post improved upon the first set stats, however it was not enough as the Golden Lions kept up its dominating attack. Dowling graduate student Patrycja Klekotka put down eight kills to lead all participants during the set. Her .583 hitting percentage helped the Golden Lions take the set 15-25.

The third set ended up being the same result at the second, with Dowling coming out on top 15-25. Klekotka also tallied eight kills once again to lead all players. The Pioneers could only manage to hit .100 during the set, never finding the rhythm to counter attack the Golden Lions.

Klekotka ended her night with an impressive 19 kills on a .600 hitting percentage. Fellow graduate student Maja Potpara led the Dowling team with 24 digs.

For the Pioneers, sophomore Geony Fisher (Goodyear, Ariz.) led the team with seven kills. Senior Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) once again was the main setter for the Pioneers as she tallied 21 assists.

Dowling will now move on to the championship game Saturday Nov. 13. The match will get underway at 7 p.m. at host school NYIT.
C.W. Post will now wait for its fate in the NCAA Tournament Field. With the recent number four ranking in the NCAA East Region, the Pioneers are hopeful for a bid into the tournament.
