Anderwkavich, Modik Earn PSAC East Weekly Honors
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Nov. 14, 2010) – Senior quarterback #
Erik Anderwkavich# (Queens, N.Y.) was named this week's PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week and junior linebacker
Ronnie Modik (Levittown, N.Y.) earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors for their outstanding play in C.W. Post's 42-38 win against Slippery Rock on Saturday.
Anderwkavich wrapped up his outstanding two-year career at C.W. Post by leading the Pioneers to a win in their final game of the season as he threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns and also gained 75 yards rushing on 15 carries (5.0 ypc) to account for 389 yards of total offense in the Pioneers' 42-38 win over Slippery Rock. Going up against the PSAC's best pass defense in Rock, he completed 18-of-25 passes without an interception and threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 1:32 to go in the fourth quarter, a 63-yard strike to
Joe Botti after Rock had taken a three-point, its first of the game, just 36 seconds earlier.
Modik, who shared the honor with Kutztown's Alex DiNolfi, posted a career-high 20 tackles, the game-high in the PSAC this year and equalling the game-high in Division II for the season, in helping C.W. Post to a 42-38 win over Slippery Rock. Of his 20 stops, 1.5 were tackles for loss. He also had a game-clinched interception that stopped Slippery Rock's last drive. After the Pioneers scored to go ahead with just 1:32 left, Rock was in position to drive for the game-winning touchdown before Modik picked off Ryan Sabo at the Post 45-yardline with 48 seconds left to ice the game.
C.W. Post closed out the 2010 season with a 7-4 overall record – its highest win total since the 2006 season. The Pioneers were third overall in the PSAC East with a 5-2 division record.
