Volleyball Selected Third in ECC Preseason Poll
Central Islip, N.Y. (Aug. 30, 2010) – The C.W. Post Volleyball team was selected to finish third in the East Coast Conference preseason coaches' poll, which was released Monday morning. C.W. Post finished third in the poll with 32 voting points, including one first place vote.
Bridgeport and Dowling matched points at 44 for the top spot on the poll. Dowling comes of a regular season title, while Bridgeport earned the conference tournament championship.
Rounding out the poll, NYIT received 27 points to earn the fourth spot. Molloy and Queens were separated by only two points, finishing fifth and sixth respectively, earning 21 and 19 points. Mercy came away with nine points, earning the seventh spot in the poll.
Finishing the 2009 campaign at 14-14, with an 8-4 conference mark, the Pioneers are looking to improve this year under second-year coach Shellane Ogoshi. The Pioneers return five letter winners from last year, including four seniors. The team also welcomes three transfers and four incoming freshman to the team.
C.W. Post will open the 2010 season on Friday Sept. 3 at the Kutztown Tournament, facing the Golden Knights of Saint Rose.
