Tennis Earns First Win Of The Season Over NYIT, 8-1
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2010) – The C.W. Post women's tennis team defeated New York Institute of Technology, 8-1, in an East Coast Conference match Tuesday afternoon.
C.W. Post earns its first win of the season and improves to 1-2 overall while NYIT drops to 0-5.
Sophomore Lejla Heco outmatched NYIT's Alexana Gaspari (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and later combined with junior Aysylu Mardanova (Moscow, Russia) to in No. 3 doubles, 8-3. Mardanova won her No. 3 singles match, 6-0 and 6-0.
Junior Morgan Milleisen (Bayport, N.Y.) picked up a win in No. 2 singles, 6-0 and 6-4. She paired with sophomore Katie Avelar (Woodbury, N.Y.) to win in No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Avelar won her No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman Dorine Sousa was successful in winning in No. 6 singles over NYIT's Natasha Milosevich. Sousa and senior Kristin Hetiler (East Rockaway, N.Y.) won their No. 3 doubles match, 8-2.
C.W. Post will face a tough challenger when it travels to play at Queens College on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m.
