Olson, Austoboe Score Two To Lead No. 8 Men's Soccer Past Dowling, 5-1

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2011) – The No. 8 C.W. Post men's soccer team continued its unbeaten streak with a 5-1 victory of Dowling College in an East Coast Conference clash Saturday evening on Golden Lion Field.
The Pioneers were buoyed with a pair of goals from junior forward
Andreas Olson (Oppeid, Norway) and freshman forward
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway). Olson also contributed with an assist on Austboe's first goal.
The Pioneers scratched out a 2-0 lead nine minutes into the game, beginning when Olson shot from the right side into the left corner in the eighth minute.
Austboe scored just over a minute later when he controlled a cross pass from the right side from Olson and chipped the ball in from five yards out.
The teams played the next 60 minutes without a goal as the Pioneers protected their lead.
The C.W. Post offense controlled the ball and went on a four-goal shooting spree that lasted eight minutes, beginning with Austboe's second goal of the game on a shot from 20 yards out at 68:31.
The Pioneers scored again 27 seconds later at 68:58 when freshman forward
Arlind Nika (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored off a rebound from 10 yards into the left corner.
The Golden Lions broke up the shutout when Jorge Ruiz scored on a penalty kick after a yellow card violation was called on the Pioneers at 74:56.
C.W. Post capped off its scoring when Olson fired in his second goal on a 10-yard shot from the left corner at 76:49.
In all, the Pioneers outshot their host 24-16 while Dowling held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) made six saves to preserve the win.
Dowling's Chris Kucera made five stops in goal.
C.W Post is back in action at home on Wednesday, Oct. 5 when it plays a non-conference tilt against Millersville University at 4 p.m.
