BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2011) – Former men's lacrosse standout Richard Schmidt '10 recently suited up in red, white and blue for Team USA in a scrimmage against Duke University on Oct. 9 as part of US Lacrosse's Stars & Stripes Weekend.

Schmidt, who is the first Pioneer to play for Team USA since Tim McIntee '89, learned he would be playing in the game on Sept. 11, the 10-year anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center towers that claimed the life of his uncle Terry Patrick Farrell, who was a New York City firefighter.  Schmidt represented the only Division II player on the team.

Team USA defeated Duke, 21-9, as 10 different players scored on the Blue Devils.
