SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (Oct. 15, 2011) – The C.W. Post continued its most match-filled week of the season with matches number three and four today in a tri-match at American International.  The Pioneers took the first match over Saint Michaels, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-18), but then dropped the finale against American International, 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 30-28, 22-25).

The Pioneers were led by Heather Adams (Centerville, Ohio) during the first match against Saint Michaels, as the freshman took the team lead in kills for the match with 12 on a .375  hitting percentage and also putting down three service aces.  Jordan Schroer (Kailua, Hawaii) put together her seventh double-double of the season with 10 kills and 16 digs.

As a team, the Pioneers controlled the net area with seven total team blocks in three sets.  Adams, Laura Garbarino (Nutley, N.J), and Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) all shared the top marks in that category as individuals with three blocks assists a piece.  C.W. Post also averaged 22.3 digs per set to help shut down the Saint Michaels offense, led by Shayla Hixson's (Honolulu, Hawaii) 17 digs for the match.

The Purple Knights were led by six kills and three service aces on the part Chelsey Covitz.  Courtney Dunne took the team lead in digs with 12 of the team's 51 during the match.

C.W. Post was quickly back in action following the Saint Michaels match as the Pioneers took on the host Yellow Jackets of American International in the tri-match finale.

Despite playing four close sets, C.W. Post was only able to come out victorious during the third set.  During that third set, the lead for either team never grew larger then more than three points as the Pioneers managed to escape with the set victory, forcing a fourth set that the Yellow Jackets eventually won.

Schroer came away with her eighth double-double of the season, second of the day, as she led the team with 21 kills and added 17 digs.  Lisa Delfs (Canandaigua, N.Y.) also put forth solid effort with 13 kills, eight digs, and six block assists.  Namahoe joined Schroer with her seventh double-double of the season with 12 kills and 17 digs.  The junior also led the team with a .400 hitting percentage.

The Yellow Jackets had four girls reach double figures in kills, led by Caitlin Connelly and her 16 kills.  She also achieved 11 digs and four service aces during the match.  Ellisha Terry helped spread the offense with 48 assists during the match.

After the two matches, the Pioneers move to 10-12 on the season.

C.W. Post will return home tomorrow for a 2 p.m. match against the District of Columbia.  This will conclude a five match week for the Pioneers.
