ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2011) – After trailing 2-0 in the match, the C.W. Post volleyball stormed back to win three straight sets and take the match, 3-2 (21-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-9, 16-14), over conference opponent Molloy.

The Lions managed to take the first two sets from the Pioneers by a combined score of 6 points, with the second set needing extra points to decide a winner.  Sam Berna controlled things early on in the match for Molloy, as she put down eight kills in the first set alone followed up by four more in the second set.

C.W. Post did not sit back and allow the sweep, as the team came on strong during the third set.  The Pioneers continuously added onto the lead and created significant separation from the Lions during the third set.  A -.179 Molloy attacking percentage helped the Pioneers to the victory, as well as Lisa Delfs (Canandaigua, N.Y.) and her five kill performance during the set.

Things got even better for the Pioneers during the fourth set, as the team hit an outstanding .500 percentage while Molloy once again hit for a negative, -.121.  Delfs and Jordan Schroer (Kailua, Hawaii) each contributed three kills while
Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) led the team in the set with four kills.  Four total team blocks also helped spur the victory and force a fifth and deciding set.

Down 14-13 in the fifth set and facing game point, the Pioneer reeled off three straight points to capture the set and match victory.  Namahoe put the exclamation point on the victory with a service ace to conclude things.  The was one of three service aces during the set for the Pioneers, with Emily Hoehn (Kearney, Neb.) taking credit for the other two.

Berna finished her night with 15 kills, as she was only able to total three after the first two sets.  Angelica Nicalek registered a double-double for the Lions, putting forth a 14 kill and 16 digs performance.

Namahoe took the match high in kills with a total of 19 to go along with 13 digs and three service aces.  She was one of four Pioneers to reach double-digit kill figures, with Delfs and Heather Adams (Centerville, Ohio) each collecting 14 while Schroer totaled 12 for the evening.  Stephanie Schwarz (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) helped find the Pioneer attackers as she contributed 48 assists to the winning effort.

The team also played well defensively, totaling 10 team blocks and 76 digs.  Schroer led things with 22 digs and Delfs was the leader in blocks with a total of eight (two solo, six assisted).

C.W. Post finishes the regular season with an 8-6 conference mark and goes into the conference tournament with a 17-14 overall record.  The Pioneers now enter the postseason as the number four seed in the upcoming ECC Tournament.  C.W. Post will take on the number one seed Dowling in the opening round of the two round tournament, this Friday.
