BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 19, 2011) – Junior guard Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) scored his 1,000th career point as the C.W. Post men's basketball team fell victim to a hot-shooting LeMoyne squad on Monday evening, losing 97-81 to the Dolphins in non-conference action.

C.W. Post has lost two straight as the Pioneers sit at 7-3, while LeMoyne evens to .500 at 5-5 overall.

The Pioneers opened the game with a 10-2 run and kept the Dolphins at bay, leading 24-16 midway through the first half.  But shots started to fall for LeMoyne, and when back-to-back three pointers by Gamal Mohamed and Derrek Tarti tied the game at 27-27, the momentum shifted to the Dolphins, who quickly pulled ahead courtesy of a Ryan Romich dunk and another Mohamed trey.

The Dolphins reversed their eight-point deficit into an eight point advantage with 3:10 left to play, and they scored the last six points of the half to take a 47-36 lead into the halftime break.

The second half saw the visitors remain firmly in control as they extended their lead to as many as 13 points.  The Pioneers tried to close the gap several times, pulling to within seven points at 8:19 after a three-pointer by Carberry, but the Dolphins answered right back with layups on two consecutive possessions to push the lead back to 11.  Carberry's three with 7:21 remaining gave the junior 1,001 points for his career and pulled the Pioneers to within eight, and his jumper less than a minute later had the Pioneer trailing by only six, 74-68.

The teams traded three pointers and with 6:01 left in the half, C.W. Post was down 77-71.  But the Dolphins went on a 14-2 run that ballooned the visitors' lead to 18 points, 91-73 with 2:39, and put the game out of reach for the Pioneers.

Bonneau led the Pioneers with 23 points and dished out 10 assists, while Carberry scored 17 including 12 in the second half.  Sophomore Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) scored 12 points and freshman Charles McCann (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) pulled down 13 rebounds.

LeMoyne was led by a game-high 30 points from Brian Zapisek, 24 points off the bench from Romich, and 20 points from Nate Champion, who added 14 assists to register the double-double.

The Dolphins shot 59.4% from the floor (38-64) compared to 37% for the Pioneers.  C.W. Post had a 45-38 edge on the glass.

The Pioneers are off until after Christmas, when they host Southern New Hampshire on Dec. 30 at 7 p.m.
