Women's Swimming Completes Day Two at the Metropolitan Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 20, 2011) – With two days of the Metropolitan Championships in the books for women's swimming, many more cuts have been made by both individuals and the relay team during Saturday's events.

The relay team of Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada), Mairi Morrison (Carnock, United Kingdom), Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario), and Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) once again set the pace for the Pioneers on the second day with a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The finishing time of 1:47.07 gave the team a NC2B cut.

Garriock came back later and took first place during the individual event of the 200 Free, accomplishing a NCAB cut with a time of 1:53.02. Prior to Garriock's first place finish, two of her relay teammates finished second and third respectively in the 100 Fly. Cassidy and Hanes each earned NCAB cuts in the events with times of 56.27 and 58.00 in their own lanes. Chelcee Hew (Savage, Minn.) was the final Pioneer to have a qualifying cut time, earning a NC2B cut with a time of 1:06.95 during the 100 Breaststroke event, finishing fifth among competitors.
