In what looked like a home run derby competition, the C.W. Post Pioneers knocked out six long balls and went on to sweep Queens College, 8-0 and 11-2, Sunday afternoon in an East Coast Conference softball clash.
 
C.W. Post improves to 22-8 overall and 10-4 in conference play. Queens slips to 19-13 overall and 8-6 in the ECC.
 
Overall, the Pioneers outscored their opponent 19-2 in the two-game series. Freshman third baseman Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y.) went 6-for-7 with three home runs and two doubles for 10 RBI.
 
The Pioneers won the first game in six innings. They scored their first run in the top of the first inning when Hagenah singled through the left side to bring home freshman leftfielder Carly Chamberlain (Nesco, N.J.) from second.
 
Hagenah drove in another run in the third, this time with a double down the left field line. Junior second baseman Kendall Bright (Manlius, N.Y.) helped make it 3-0 with a sacrifice lineout to the leftfielder, scoring junior centerfielder Kerry Fisher (Barto, Pa.) from third.
 
The Pioneers kept the Knights' outfielders busy in the fifth inning as they recorded three solo shots, including a lead-off home run from sophomore first baseman Kaci Hopkins (New Egypt, N.J.), as well as deep drives from Hagenah and freshman designated player Jessica Julich (Kings Park, N.Y.).
 
Hagenah helped put the finishing touches on game one when she drove in the final two runs with a two-run shot to left center that also scored Hopkins from first.
 
Hagenah was 4-for-4 in the game with five RBI and two runs scored. Hopkins finished going 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
 
Senior Christina Berardi (Raynham, Mass.) tossed her sixth shutout of the season, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four.
 
Bryttne Santana was charged with the loss after giving up six earned runs on 10 hits and a walk with one strikeout.
 
In the nightcap, the Pioneer offense continued to score as they put three runs on the board in the first. Fisher plated two runs with a single up the middle and Hagenah drove in one with a double down the left field line.
 
Queens scored its first run of the day in the bottom of the third when Samantha Stallone scored from third on a wild pitch.
 
C.W. Post responded with a seven-run fourth inning as Chamberlain recorded an RBI with a sacrifice fly to centerfield for the first run of the inning. The Pioneers loaded the bases up before Hagenah took a 1-2 pitch and rocketed it over the left field fence. Bright walked in the next at bat and Julich came to the plate and sent the first pitch deep over the centerfield wall to make the score 10-1 in favor of the Pioneers.
 
Queens scored its second run of the game in the bottom half of the inning when Catherine Pastor singled through the left side to score Alexandra Drago.
 
C.W. Post put the final run on the board in the fifth when Hopkins singled through the right side to score Agostini, who reached with on a single to left.
 
Senior Sarah Kiser (Arnold, Md.) earned her 10th win of the season as she scattered two runs over five innings on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. 
 
Hagenah went 2-for-3 with five RBI and a run scored. Hopkins was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Fisher was 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored while Julich went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
 
Queens starter Faith Tessmer took the loss after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
 
C.W. Post is back in action when it hosts St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
