Bright And Chamberlain Rewarded By ECC After Leading Softball To 4-0 Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (April 18, 2011) – Junior second baseman Kendall Bright (Manlius, N.Y.) of the C.W. Post softball team earned her first East Coast Conference Player of the Week and freshman leftfielder Carly Chamberlain (Nesco, N.J.) was named ECC Rookie of the Week as both helped lead the Pioneers to a 4-0 record last week.
Bright was 8-for-15 last week with 14 RBI in four games played last week. She unleashed two homers, including a three-run shot against NYIT. Five of her six hits went for doubles against the Bears as she completed the doubleheader batting 6-for-11 with 11 RBI. She added a two-run homer that put the Pioneers ahead for good against Southern Connecticut.
Chamberlain was 12-for-18 with a .667 average as the leadoff hitter in four games last week and recorded five RBI and seven runs scored, including four doubles and a triple. She was 4-for-4 and nearly made the cycle with a double, a triple and two singles in game two against NYIT.
C.W. Post (26-8, 12-4 ECC) is in action this week against St. Thomas Aquinas (April 18), Molloy (April 19), NYIT (April 21) and Mercy (April 23).
