BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April, 27, 2011) – The No. 24 C.W. Post softball team fell victim to a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Molloy College, 2-0 and 5-2, Wednesday afternoon in an East Coast Conference matchup at the Softball Complex.

The Lions scored both of their runs in the bottom half of the third inning, beginning with an infield throwing error that allowed Lauren Alexander to score from second. The second run came around to score when Jeana Frey singled up the middle to score Megan Hutnick from third.
Alexander was 2-for-2 in the game with a run scored while Frey was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Megan Butterworth won her 17th game of the season after pitching a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.

In the night cap, Molloy jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first courtesy of a two-run home run to left field off the bat of Haley Calderwood.
The Lions struck again in the fifth when Calderwood singled up the middle as Frey came in to score from second. The scoring didn't stop there as Carla Campagna belted home run to left field to score two runs.

Junior right fielder Krysta Palazzo (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and sophomore shortstop Nicole Fierro (Easthampton, N.Y.) drove in junior second baseman Kendall Bright (Manlius, N.Y.) from third on an infield ground out. But that was all the Pioneers would score in the game as Molloy reliever Megan Butterworth struck out pinch hitter Nicole Capella (Shirley, N.Y.) to end the game.
