The Golden Lions scored eight runs through the first three innings in game one while shutting out the Pioneers to win after five innings by way of the mercy rule. They scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning courtesy of an RBI triple from Emily Slack followed by a two-run home run by Stephanie Tarango.

Dowling further put the game out of reach with a five-run third inning, scoring five runs on five hits and one error.

Felicia Mendoza got the winning decision after she went the distance, scattering two hits over five innings with two walks and five strikeouts.

Senior Sarah Kiser (Arnold, Md.) was charged with the loss after allowing four earned runs on six hits and two walks with one strikeout. Junior Hayley Bettles (Surrey, British Columbia) pitched two innings in relief and allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

In the second game, Dowling got on the board first with two runs in the third inning with an RBI single from Slack and a bases-loaded walk. The Golden Lions added one more run in the bottom of the fourth when Melissa Perez drove in a run on a single to right field.

C.W. Post scored one run in the fifth when sophomore catcher Nicole Capella (Shirley, N.Y.) led off the inning with a solo home run to left field. But that was all the runs the Pioneers could muster as Dowling pitcher Jesse Stavola keep them scoreless through the final two innings.

Stavola finished the game with 17 strikeouts while allowing one run on four hits.

Capella was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
