Berardi, Bright And Hagenah All Distinguished As NFCA First Team All-Region Selections

STARKVILLE, Miss. (May 19, 2011) – Senior pitcher Christina Berardi (Raynham, Mass.), junior second baseman Kendall Bright (Manlius, N.Y.) and freshman third baseman Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y.) of the C.W. Post softball team continue to add to their postseason honors each were NFCA East Region First Team selections.
Berardi has a 22-6 record with one save in 184.0 innings pitched with a 1.33 earned run average. She has allowed 35 earned runs on 131 hits while striking out 172 batters and has 10 complete shutouts to her credit. She was a two-time East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week this season and was voted ECC All-Conference and was a Second Team Daktronics All-Region selection.
Bright, who is batting .360 at the plate and has driven in 56 runs on 59 hits, including 11 home runs and an ECC-best 15 doubles, collected three hits in the NCAA East Regional, including two-run shot in the Pioneers' second matchup against Caldwell. She was a 2011 ECC First Team selection as well as a First Team Daktronics All-Region selection. She was also a two-time ECC Player of the Week and one-time ECAC Player of the Week.
Hagenah, who is batting .465 at the plate with a .787 slugging percentage and has knocked in 60 runs on 72 hits, including 13 home runs and 11 doubles. She batted .429 with three hits and three runs scored in the NCAA East Regional against New Haven and two games against Caldwell. Hagenah was an ECC First Team selection and was voted the Rookie of the Year by the league's coaches.
C.W. Post (39-14, 20-8 ECC) advanced to the NCAA East Super Regional after going 3-0 in the East Regional this past weekend. The Pioneers will host Merrimack College in a best-of-three series with the winner advancing to the World Series in Salem, Va.
