A Pair of Tennis Seniors Take Part in the USTA/ITA Regional Championships
PHILADELPHIA, PA. (Sept. 19, 2011) – Chestnut Hill College hosted the2011 USTA/ITA Regional Championships this past weekend, with the C.W. Post women's tennis team having two representatives go to the tournament. The senior pair of
Lejla Heco (Malmo, Sweden) and
Morgan Milleisen (Bayport, N.Y.) took part as a doubles team, as well as taking on singles matches.
In the doubles first round match, Heco and Milleisen took on the NYIT pair of Sara Burinato and Gaby Rodriguez. The NYIT duo was able to take the first round match up and advancing to the next round with an 8-2 set decision.
Heco earned a first round bye in singles play, moving on to play Rodriguez from NYIT again. Rodriguez earned the victory over the C.W. Post senior 6-1, 6-2 to eliminate Heco. Earlier, Milleisen was defeated in the first round by Kelly Dennis of Chestnut Hill by the score of 6-2, 6-2.
The entire tennis team will be back in action against Burinato, Rodriguez and the rest of the NYIT squad in a conference match this Wednesday, Sept. 21. The event is set to take place at 3:30 on the campus of NYIT.
