Men's Basketball Handles Molloy, 70-48

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 14, 2012) – Senior guard
Stefan Bonneau (Middletown, N.Y.) scored 12 second-half points to blow the game open, and the Pioneers remained unbeaten in conference action with a 70-48 win over visiting Molloy on Saturday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves to 11-4 overall and 5-0 in the ECC, while the Lions slip to 5-11 and 2-4 in ECC action.
Tied at 6-6 after five and a half minutes of play, the visitors took an 11-7 lead before the Pioneers responded by knotting the score again, this time at 13-13. Over the next three minutes, C.W. Post engineered an 11-0 run that put them on top 24-13 with six minutes left in the half. The Pioneers maintained their double-digit advantage as they went into halftime up 32-20.
C.W. Post extended its lead in the second half as Bonneau caught fire from long range, dialing up four three's within a five minute span, and the Pioneers led by as many as 29 points before winning by a comfortable 22-point margin.
Bonneau's game-high 18 points came on 7-16 shooting, while
Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and
Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) each tallied 11 points. Freshman
Tyuan Williams (Newark, N.J.) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Pioneers were dominant on the boards with a margin of 52-30. They also overwhelmed Molloy in the paint, scoring 44 to only 16 for the Lions. The Pioneers finished the day shooting 41% from the floor, (29-70).
The Pioneers take to the road for three straight home games, traveling to Queens on January 18 for a 7 p.m. contest before trips to District of Columbia and Dowling on the 21st and 28th.
