Allen and Williams Take Home Both ECC Weekly Honors
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Jan. 23, 2012) – Two members of the C.W. Post men's basketball team earned Weekly Honors from the ECC as
Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and
Tyuan Williams (Newark, N.J.) were named Player and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Allen averaged 20.0 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game as the Pioneers, winners of six straight, improved to 13-4 overall and remained perfect in conference play with a 7-0 slate. The sophomore forward shot .500 from the floor (11-22) and made 18-23 attempts from the free throw line. Against Queens, he scored 17 points with eight boards, then followed up with 23 points and 13 rebounds against UDC three days later.
Williams averaged a double-double for the second straight week as he posted a 10.5 points per game - 15.0 rebounds per game average. The freshman registered 11 points and 13 boards against Queens, then followed with 10 points and a season-high 17 rebounds at District of Columbia. He shot 10-21 from the floor (.476) and also blocked a shot and grabbed two steals.
Looking ahead, the Pioneers are off until next week when they travel to Dowling for a 3:30 matchup on Saturday, Jan. 28.
