ECC Names Delfs Co-Player Of The Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (
Oct. 15, 2012) - The East Coast Conference released its weekly women's volleyball awards, and LIU Post volleyball senior middle blocker
Lisa Delfs (Canandaigua, N.Y.) was named as Co-Player of the Week.
Delfs led the Pioneers to an undefeated week with 50 kills for a .357 hitting percentage and an average of 3.12 kills per set. She also added 17 total blocks on the week. Against the University of Bridgeport, Delfs was able to tally 19 kills with a hitting percentage of .356 and also added six blocks.
LIU Post registered a perfect 4-0 week, picking up three ECC wins against the University of Bridgeport, the University of the District of Columbia, and Dowling College, and also beat NE-10 member Stonehill College. This win over Dowling marks the first time LIU Post has beaten the Golden Lions in a volleyball match-up since 2001. Only the squad's match-up against Bridgeport went the full five sets taking the 3-2 win. LIU Post dominated its last three matches beating UDC 3-1, Dowling 3-0, and Stonehill 3-1. Sophomore
Lulu Centro (Rome, Italy) tossed up 87 assists, and freshman
Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) scooped up 73 digs.
The Pioneers look to continue their winning ways this upcoming week as they host ECC foes NYIT Oct. 16 and Molloy College Oct. 18. They then travel to Rindge, N.H. to face Franklin Pierce University and Southern Connecticut State University on Oct. 20 to finish off their week.
