Namahoe's 16th Double-Double Leads Volleyball To 3-1 Win Over Mercy

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2012) – Junior middle blocker
Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) registered her 16th double-double of the season to lead the LIU Post volleyball team to its seventh straight conference win tonight over Mercy College with a score of 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22).
LIU Post improves its record to 19-11 (8-3 ECC), while Mercy falls to 3-19 (0-11 ECC).
Namahoe had a set-high three kills for the Pioneers in the first set to lead the way to the 25-18 set win. Sophomore
Heather Adams (Centerville, Ohio) and freshman
Harlee Meyers (Kailua, Hawaii) each added two kills for the Pioneer attack. Adams also registered two of the Pioneers' three service aces in the set. Freshman
Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) dug out six balls to head the Pioneers' defense. Mercy's Nicole Pepe tallied three kills, and McKenna Ronan registered five kills in the set.
Namahoe once again smashed three kills for the Pioneers in the second set, with freshman
Melissa Hansen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) adding two of her own. Ringor matched her first set dig total of six in the second set, with Namahoe and Meyers scooping up five a piece. Senior
Lisa Delfs (Canandaigua, N.Y.) made her presence known at the net with four block assists in the second set alone as part of LIU Post's six blocks in the set. Brenna White led the Mavericks with four kills.
White smashed a set-high five kills to lead the Mavericks to a third set win to keep their hopes alive, and Ronan tossed up a 10 assists in the set. Namahoe was the only bright spot for the Pioneers in the set with four kills.
The Pioneers secured the match victory with the fourth set win. With five kills, Namahoe registered her highest kill mark of the evening. Sophomore
Lulu Centro (Rome, Italy) tossed up seven of her 11 assists in the fourth set. White once again had the high kill mark for the Mavericks with seven.
En route to yet another double-double, Namahoe registered 15 kills and 11 digs.
Monica Amador (Cedar Park, Texas) tossed up a Pioneer-high 13 assists, with Centro adding 11 of her own. RIngor scooped up a total of 20 digs, with Adams and Meyers also contributing double-digit dig totals.
White led the Mavericks with 17 total kills, while teammate Ronan had a game-high 35 assists. Three Mavericks registered double-digit dig totals with Kirstie Zubiate leading the way with 18.
The Pioneers look to extend their conference win streak as they travel to Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday Oct. 26 for a 7 p.m. match-up.
