Roberts Wesleyan Downs Volleyball 3-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2012) – The LIU Post volleyball team was unable to pick up a win at ECC rival Roberts Wesleyan College, as the Redhawks took the match 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 18-25, 25-18).

Roberts Weselan improves to 12-9 (8-3 ECC), while LIU Post drops to 19-12 (8-4 ECC).

During the first set, junior middle hitter Susy Cricchi (Borgovelino, Rieti, Italy) led the Pioneer attack with four kills.  Junior middle blocker Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) scooped up a set-high eight digs, and sophomore setter Lulu Centro (Rome, Italy) had a Pioneer-high six assists.  The Redhawks' Gisela Ocasio smashed a set-high five kills, and Maggie Concannon registered 10 assists.

The Pioneers were only able to muster seven total kills with Cricchi and Lisa Delfs (Canandaigua, N.Y.) recording two each; and Namahoe, Harlee Meyers (Kailua, Hawaii), , and Monica Amador (Cedar Park, Texas) knocking down one a piece.  LIU Post was able to record four total blocks—one solo block by Amador, two assists by Delfs and Heather Adams (Cedarville, Ohio), and one assist each by Namahoe and Cricchi.  Freshman Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) tallied a set-high eight digs.  Jordan Wilson led the Redhawks' attack with six kills in the set.  Becca Maher matched Ringor's dig total of eight.

The Pioneers were able to take the third set from Roberts Wesleyan behind four kills by Delfs and three by Cricchi.  Centro had a Pioneer-high seven assists.  Wilson once again led the Redhawks with five kills, and Concannon tallied a set-high 12 assists.

Roberts Wesleyan finished off the Pioneers in four sets on its home court behind five Wilson kills.  Adams and Namahoe each registered three kills for the Pioneers in the final set.

On the night, Cricchi and Delfs each tallied a total of 11 kills for the Pioneers.  Centro tossed up a total of 22 assists, and Ringor once again led all players on the court with a total of 21 digs.

Roberts Wesleyan's Wilson led all players with 17 kills, and Concannon dished out 46 assists.

The Pioneers return to action Thursday, Nov. 1 as they travel to take on Queens College at 7 p.m.
