Volleyball Sweeps Queens, 3-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 13, 2012) – The LIU Post volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over conference foe Queens College Tuesday evening in the Pratt Recreation Center. The set scores were 25-20, 25-17, and 25-14.
LIU Post improves its record to 22-12 and 11-4 in conference play, while Queens finishes its season at 3-24 (3-13 ECC).
Sophomore
Heather Adams (Centerville, Ohio) was the lone player in the game to register a double-digit kill total with 10. Senior
Lisa Delfs (Canandaigua, N.Y.) added eight kills. Junior
Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) scooped up a match-high 20 digs, and sophomore
Lulu Centro (Rome, Italy) tossed up a Pioneer-high 13 assists.
Queens jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set, but behind strong serving from
Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Adams, the Pioneers were able to tie the score up at eight. The Pioneers later secured the first set win with a Delfs kill capped off with a service ace by
Harlee Meyers (Kailua, Hawaii).
By the time the score reached 10-all, the two squads had battled to five score ties in the second set. The Pioneers closed out the set with a 9-2 run to secure the 25-17 set win with a Delfs kill off a feed from freshman setter
Monica Amador (Cedar Park, Texas).
The Pioneers caught fire in the third set, starting off on a 14-4 run. They never looked back, scoring the final three points of the match off an Adams kill, Delfs/Meyers block, and an attack error by the Knights.
LIU Post finishes out its regular season schedule Wednesday, Nov. 14 at home against the University of Bridgeport at 7 p.m. in the Pratt Recreation Center.
